This is the promo for the new Canal 13 Prime time talk show, it’s going to be about the South African soccer world cup, in a fashionable way.
Hosted by famous presenter Tonka Tomicic along two funny comediants.
The script asked for her interacting with a lion, having a kind of duel dance and at the end, she wins and we see the lion surrendered to her charms, it’s done.

Everyone know it wasn’t so easy.

I always thought in using the Red One camera from the start because I wanted to have as much of the lion’s footage as I could, to accomplish all of the framing I proposed in the shooting board.
Here in Chile there aren’t trained lions, so we had to use one captive in a zoo and try to direct his actions to perform the way I needed to. He lives in a big cage where can move freely, so it was a risky bet think in direct him in some way.
I captured a lot of the lion’s actions, we designed the movements to achieve as much sync and ‘acting’ as we could.

After that, the soundstage part with Tonka and the two comedians was incredible fast and precise, it took only 4 hours to complete.
Post was simple but not easy, it feels organic and not evident.
I really love the results.
